Action camera brand GoPro has announced two cameras which are a big leap forward for their range and their content creator community.
The GoPro HERO is a new smaller GoPro, the smallest GoPro ever with a screen, while the flagship HERO13 Black has all new capabilities that are bound to get attention.
GoPro founder Nicholas Woodman says “This year’s two new GoPro cameras are inspired by and built for the GoPro Community,”
“HERO13 Black features four new interchangeable lens mods that HERO13 automatically detects and adjusts its settings for, magnetic latch mounting, GPS, and a more powerful battery that provides longer runtimes and improved thermal performance. And then there’s HERO, the smallest, lightest 4K GoPro ever with a screen that will appeal to new and experienced users with its rugged, ultralight design and impressive 4K image quality.”
The flagship device, HERO13 Black offers a stunning short burst slowmotion mode offering up to 400 frames per second, along with a larger battery and WiFi 6 image transfer.
But it’s the new mounting options and lens mods that will be most desirable.
Built-in to the GoPro HERO13 Black are the traditional two finger mounts for a strong durable connection, while there’s also a new snap-on Magnetic latch attachment for easy switching from mount to mount. Finally there’s also a thread mount for traditional tripod and other mounts where normal cameras might sit.
For those looking to expand the capabilities of the GoPro HERO13 Black, the new HB-Series lenses allows a quick twist off and change to the lens.
You can choose from an Ultra-Wide lens, Macro lens with focus ring, a soon to be released Anamorphic lens or the 4-pack of ND Filters which will give you a cinematic motion blur in any conditions, the camera automatically adjusting the settings to suit.
HERO13 Black starts at $649.95 and goes on Sale September 10.
For a simpler, smaller GoPro, the new HERO is the go-to.
At just $349 it’s more affordable and it’s tiny! About the size of an Apple Airpods case, but with a screen.
While it’s not as small as the Hero5 Session from back in the day, it’s the smallest GoPro ever with a screen. It weighs just 86 grams!
That one goes on sale September 22.
