Amazon launches new Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 smart displays
Amazon has launched two updated smart displays – the Echo Show 8 and the Echo Show 5 in Australia with more powerful cameras for improved video calling and new ways to experience the convenience of Alexa.
The Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 are not only smart speakers but they also have a display to add another level of convenience and quality so you can see and hear the information you need and enjoy your video content.
ECHO SHOW 8 – $199
The Echo Show 8 has an 8-inch high definition display with adaptive colour and dual stereo speakers so it not only looks good but sounds good as well.
Users can watch their content on the screen, stream their favourite TV shows from Netflix, Prime Video and catch up services as well as listen to the radio, to Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and their podcasts and audiobooks.
Also onboard is a 13-megapixel camera with a built-in shutter which can automatically pan and zoom while you’re on video calls so everyone stays in the middle of the frame.
And of course through Alexa users can control your smart devices using your voice.
With the display Alexa can also show you the live feed from your security cameras.
The device has a fabric finish that’s available in charcoal or sandstone.
ECHO SHOW 5 – $119
The Echo Show 5 is now being offered at a cheaper price but also comes with improved features including the charcoal or sandstone fabric finish.
The 5.5-inch display has a 960 x 480 resolution and an upgraded camera with a built-in shutter.
The camera can be used for a quick video call to other Echo devices with a screen or the Alexa app.
Users can also use the Drop In feature to look through the Echo Show 5’s camera.
And, being an Alexa product, the Echo Show 5 can also be used to control and monitor your smart devices.
The new Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 are both available for pre-order now on Amazon.com.au and will begin shipping to customers in late May 2021.
