TCL to launch into the Australian smartphone market with the TCL Plex

Electronics giant TCL will enter the Australian smartphone with the TCL Plex – a flagship-level device with advanced camera and display technology that was unveiled at the IFA tech trade show in Berlin.

The company will also release the TCL 4G Movetime Family Watch to keep families connected on the go.

Alcatel, a member of the TCL Communication family, also announced the launch of the Alcatel 3X, an affordable with a 6.5-inch high definition display.

The TCL Plex has a 6.53-inch FHD+ screen with 90 per cent screen to body ratio.

It utilises the company’s advanced display technology and brings it to a mobile form factor.

Onboard is a dedicated display engine with stunning colour accuracy courtesy of the TCL NXTVISION technology which provides 6-axis colour enhancement and 2D edge enhancement for sharper pictures.

It also has an SDR (standard dynamic range) to HDR (high dynamic range) real-time conversion feature as well.

The smartphone will offer Adaptive Tone, Reading Mode and Eye Comfort Mode which automatically adjusts the display brightness and colour temperature to suit what you’re doing and the lighting conditions.

On the camera side, the TCL Plex has a triple lens system which includes a main 48-megapixel camera with 4K recording.

The device is equipped to integrate auto-brightness, HDR and AI in the camera’s auto mode.

Night shots are also three times brighter when shooting in Super Night Mode.

The 16-megapixel 123-degree field of view camera can fit in four times as much into your shot.

The TCL Plex will be priced at $499 and will be available in Obsidian Black and Opal White from JB Hi-Fi.

The TCL 4G Movetime is a 4G watch has a 1.3-inch display and has direct two-way calling, video calling, photo sharing and messaging.

It also includes GPS functionality which allows parents to set geofencing perimeters and see geolocations at a glance.

The device can also track steps, calories burned and distance walked while the School Time Mode means the child will never be distracted in class.

Made of durable material, the TCL 4G Movetime has an IP65 waterproof rating along with a replaceable band and changeable watch faces.

It will go on sale in mid-November at Big W and Australia Post for $199.

The Alcatel 3X has a 6.5-inch HD+ display for an expanded viewing experience on the move.

Also onboard is a rear triple camera system – 16-megapixel, 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel – which also includes smart scene detection.

It also includes a super wide angle lens that offers a 102-degree field of view.

On the front is an 8-megapixel camera and LED flash to take better and brighter selfies.

The Alcatel 3X is powered by an octa-core processor with a dedicated Google Assistant button which can launch apps, find information, control smart home devices, set reminders and even send text messages.

The Alcatel 3X will go on sale in October for $299 through JB Hi-Fi.
