Modern technology gives us many things.

Amazon’s new Echo Spot smart speaker is a smart alarm clock as well

Amazon has launched its new Echo Spot – the latest in its Alexa-enabled devices – which is not only a smart speaker but a customizable smart alarm clock.

The new Echo Spot is ideal for the bedside table or the desk with a screen that can display various custom clock faces and colours.

Priced at $149, Echo Spot is available in Black, Glacier White and Ocean Blue.

“Customers care about the way they wake up in the morning and go to bed at night and the all-new Echo Spot will transform the way they start and end their day,” said Patrick Walker, country manager, Amazon Devices Australia and New Zealand.

“Thanks to customisable clock faces, personalised designs, new alarm sounds and colourful visual animations, Echo Spot is the best smart alarm clock designed for any bedside table.”

Echo Spot offers an interactive and personalised display with the ability to set a reminder or set an alarm with your voice.

You can choose to set an alarm and wake up to your favourite music or one of four new alarm sounds exclusive to Echo Spot.

And if you want to stay in bed a little longer after the alarm goes off, all you need to do is tap Echo Spot to snooze.

Users can also ask Alexa for the weather, and you’ll see the temperature and an illustration on the screen – sun or rain cloud – so you see what sort of day it will be.

The display can be customised to fit the decor of your room with a choice of six different colours – orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal and blue – which can be mixed and match with a variety of clock face options.

Echo Spot will also display the song title of the music playing and the volume can be adjusted either with the buttons on top of the unit or with your voice.

On the audio side, Echo Spot has a 1.73-inch front firing directional speaker which offers crisp vocals and a nice level of bass so that your music, podcasts and audiobooks from Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Audible and more sound great.

Echo Spot can also be used as a smart home hub to control compatible smart home products and come up with Alexa routines that automate daily tasks like waking with music, turning on lights and lowering the thermostat.

The new Echo Spot is priced at $149 and it’s available from amazon.com.au/echospot, JB Hi-Fi and other leading Australian retailers.
