Modern technology gives us many things.

Do you wish you had a bigger TV? You are not alone

Do you ever sit look at your TV and wish it was bigger? You are not alone. In fact, 46 per cent of Australians admit to suffering “TV envy” when comparing their TV to that of their friends and family.

Without a doubt our televisions are a central part of our lives and something we watch every single day.

But the size of our TVs and where we put them in put them in our homes has also evolved according to the latest research commissioned by PureProfile and released by Samsung Australia.

More than a third of Australians (35 per cent) wished they had purchased a larger TV.

This is particularly evident when it comes to watching sport.

We are a sport loving nation after all and are opting to tune in from home to watch the big games on our own big screens.

The current state of play is 42 per cent owning a screen larger than 60-inch and 11 per cent having a TV that’s 75-inch and above.

Australians are also willing to rearrange the furniture to create prime viewing conditions in their home, according to the research.

That figure stands at 60 per cent with the main objective to avoid glare on their screens.

“The television is a central feature of the home that plays a significant role in daily life, however, our research reveals the glare of the sun’s rays is an inconvenience experienced by more than half of the nation,” said Simon Howe, Director of Audio Visual at Samsung Electronics Australia.

“Advancements in TV technology — like our world-first glare free certified OLED anti-glare technology — are making the viewing experience that much better for consumers, with Samsung committing to delivering innovative products that offer Australians a screen that truly suits their needs and living spaces.”

One in five Australians (40 per cent) say there is a higher risk of glare in sunny Australia compared to other countries and the same 40 per cent will even wait till the sun goes down to watch their favourite TV show and avoid the risk of the sunlight and glare impacting their experience.

“Our recently released Samsung S95D OLED 4K Smart TV was built for Australian conditions,” added Howe, with the new OLED Anti-Glare technology helping to preserve colour accuracy and helping to reduce reflections while maintaining image sharpness to ensure an immersive viewing experience, even in brightly lit rooms.

More than half of respondents (55 per cent) says their TV is the best way for them to wind down after work while 57 per cent said the TV is for streaming their favourite content and a quarter 24 per cent use it to listen to their favourite music.
