Netgear has brought the latest wireless technology – WiFi 7 – to its flagship Orbi mesh systems to take wireless connectivity to all-new heights with up to a remarkable 26Gbps with even greater range.
The new Netgear Orbi 970 Series not only has WiFi 7 compatibility, but it also has a new sleeker design plus a new and improved antenna design.
This product has come along at a time when multi-gig speeds are becoming available to more households and the number of connected devices in our homes is rapidly increasing.
Meanwhile we have expectations to stream 4K/8K video quality via subscription services in high quality, connect flawlessly on video calls while working remotely and enjoy interactive and immersive AR/VR games and entertainment.
WiFi 7 takes the 6Ghz band opened with WiFi 6E and expands the channel to 320Mhz to increase speeds and improve performance.
The Orbi 970 Series harnesses this technology and delivers an even more powerful wireless network that will reach every corner of your home from the front door to the backyard for all your devices.
The new Orbi is backwards compatible so it can also connect older devices with WiFi 6E, WiFi 6 compatibility and earlier wi-fi standards.
The Orbi has four bands and a unique Enhanced Dedicated Backhaul to maintain the speed of the network across all connected devices.
The new Netgear Orbi utilises another WiFi 7 feature – MLO (multi-link operation) combines a dedicated 5Ghz band with a 6Ghz band to double the connection speed between the router and the satellites around your home and achieve 10Gbps wireless backhaul.
The result is lower latency and faster data transfer while the Orbi’s Smart Connect feature can automatically select the best and fastest band for every device in your home.
On the router is a 10 Gig internet port plus a 10 Gig and four 2.5 Gig Ethernet ports so you can enjoy the fastest speeds you can achieve in your home today.
The Orbi 970 router and satellites have a thinner and more cylindrical shape with a smaller footprint to make it easier to find the space for them.
Despite the smaller size, the Netgear Orbi 970 still has room for 12 internal high performance antennas and high-powered amplifiers for 360-degree coverage.
The new Netgear Orbi can cover up to 660 square metres – that’s 10 per cent more than the 960 Series – and can support up to 200 connected devices.
“The Orbi 970 Series is another major milestone in delivering the extraordinary power of our patented Quad Band technology across the whole home – from the wine cellar to the game room to the backyard grill – with speeds up to 2.4x faster than WiFi 6,” says David Henry, president & GM of Connected Home Products and Services at Netgear.
“We’ve combined our extensive RF (radio frequency) expertise and new patented technology with the features of WiFi 7 to provide the fastest wi-fi speeds, ensuring anything and everything connected to the Orbi 970 system operates at optimal performance even across the most demanding smart homes.”
