Modern technology gives us many things.

Apple confirms event to announce updated iPad Pro, iPad Air and an all-new Apple Pencil

Apple has confirmed an event on May 8 which is likely to reveal new iPad Pro and iPad Air models along with a new Apple Pencil.

The virtual event will kick off at the stroke of midnight as the calendar ticks over to Wednesday May 8 (7am May 7 PT time in the US) and will be live streamed on the Apple website and on YouTube.

The event has been labelled “Let Loose” and has an illustration which incorporates Apple Pencil – so it will definitely be upgraded with new features.

Apple CEO Tim Cook even took to X with a post saying: “Pencil us in for May 7”.

There have been no new iPads announced since October 2022 – that was when Apple released the iPad Pro with M2 and the 10th Gen iPad.

At this event we are expecting two new iPad Pro models – an 11-inch and a new 13-inch with Apple’s latest M3 chips which were recently included in the latest MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac.

The new iPad Pros will reportedly feature a new premium OLED display which means it will be slightly thinner than previous models.

OLED will only be available with the iPad Pro models and Apple will continue with LCD screens in the iPad and iPad Air.

Another new feature will be a repositioned camera on the landscape edge for improved Facetime calls.

This positions the camera on the longer edge of the iPad Pro and will make it easier to centre the user on the video call.

On the current models, the camera is located on the smaller top edge.

So then if you use the iPad in landscape mode it’s harder to be centred on the screen because it’s at one end of the device.

The iPad Pro is rumoured to have other design changes including a new rear camera bump and possibly MagSafe wireless charging.

Another update could also come with the Magic Keyboard accessory will have an aluminium construction and a larger trackpad.

Apple will also reportedly unveil two new iPad Air models with M2 chips including its first 12.9-inch model with a landscape oriented camera.

There have been a lot of rumours about the new Apple Pencil which will have a new squeeze feature to trigger new actions.

The new Apple Pencil is also likely to compatible with Apple’s Vision Pro.
