Optus expands 4G mobile network

optusnewlogoOptus has extended its 4G network to Melbourne with coverage up to 10km from the CBD and enhanced its existing 3G network for improved mobile and date connectivity.

Melbourne follows Sydney, Perth and Newcastle in the Optus 4G footprint which can be accessed by 4G compatible devices like the upcoming iPhone 5, the 4G Samsung Galaxy S III and Optus 4G USB and wi-fi modems.

This allows faster data transfer for viewing and sharing content and browsing the web.

The Optus 3G network has now also been expanded to make it compatible with 3G dual band devices for more consistent data connectivity.

“We are excited about the launch of Optus 4G and the expansion of our 3G enhancement programme across Melbourne,” said Günther Ottendorfer, Managing Director of Networks at Optus.

“Our customers have told us what matters most to them, and we have listened to their feedback to deliver a mobile network that will provide quicker data speeds, better call quality and improved in-building coverage in more areas – so they can stay in touch and do more.”
