MG Motor expands line-up with the HS Plus EV Excite at an affordable price

MG Motor has added another vehicle to it’s successful HS plus EV line-up – the HS plus EV Excite – which has both a petrol and electric powertrain giving drivers the best of both worlds.

The mid-sized SUV is priced at $46,999 on the road and has a direct injection four cylinder 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine as well as a compact yet powerful 90 kW electric motor.

And Tech Guide had a sneak peek at the vehicle ahead of its launch.

The MG HS Plus EV Excite is surprisingly roomy for a mid-size SUV and has an impressive fit and finish.

The screens both in front of the driver and in the central console are bright and sharp.

And on the driver’s side of the is a button simple labelled “EV” which switches the car to the electric motor.

The onboard 16.6kWh lithium-ion battery offers a range of 63km on a full charge

The vehicle has a petrol cap on the left side and a charging port on the right which offers drivers peace of mind knowing they have a petrol engine to get them to their destination if their battery runs low and vice versa.

The MG plus EV Excite comes with the MG Pilot active safety suite along with 17-inch alloy rims an LED daytime running lights and taillights.

Inside the vehicle is a 12.3-inch driver screen and a 10.1-inch touch screen infotainment which includes GPS, apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Plus EV Excite can comfortably sit five people and offers keyless entry, push button start and an electronic park brake.
