Apple unveils Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro apps for iPad so creators can work anywhere

Popular editing applications Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro have come to the iPad. Apple unveiled the new video and music apps which will allow creators to work on their content anywhere.

Naturally, the new iPad apps have all-new touch interfaces that can speed up workflows. They will be available on the App Store as subscriptions on May 23.

Final Cut Pro for iPad includes a powerful new set of tools for video creators to record, edit finish and share their content on the move from the iPad.

Logic Pro for iPad is like a mobile studio with tools for song writing, beat making, recording, editing and mixing.

“We’re excited to introduce Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad, allowing creators to unleash their creativity in new ways and in even more places,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

“With a powerful set of intuitive tools designed for the portability, performance and touch-first interface of iPad, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro deliver the ultimate mobile studio.”

FINAL CUT PRO FOR iPAD

Final Cut Pro for iPad has an all-new touch interface and virtual jog wheel to make editing easier and faster.

Users can navigate the Magnetic Timeline, move clips and make accurate edits with a single touch.

Live Drawing is a feature on the iPad Pro with M2 that brings the Apple Pencil into the picture so it can be hovered to allow editors to skim and preview footage without even touching the screen.

And with the addition of a Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio, users can also utilise key commands.

Final Cut Pro for iPad also has Pro Camera Mode which can also be used in the creative process with creators able to shoot high quality video in portrait or landscape, monitor audio and see available recording time while manually controlling settings like focus, exposure and white balance.

It’s possible to capture, edit and publish from the iPad pro with M2 and even recording ProRes.

Final Cut Pro for iPad takes advantage of Apple’s silicon and machine learning to speed up the editing process.

Screen Removal Mask allows users to quickly remove or replace the background behind a subject without a green screen.

Auto crop can adjust footage for vertical, square and other aspect ratios while Voice Isolation can remove unwanted audio captured in the field.

LOGIC PRO FOR iPAD

Logic Pro for iPad takes the power of Logic Pro and makes it portable so your iPad can become an all-in-one professional music studio.

The multi touch interface allows creators to play software instruments and interact with the controls while navigating complex projects with pinch to zoom and swipe to scroll.

The most useful controls are at the creators fingertips thanks to plug-in Tiles so they can easily shape sounds.

It’s also possible to capture voice or instrument recordings via the built-in microphone on iPad so you can turn any space into a recording studio.

There are also more than 100 powerful instruments and effects plugins in Logic Pro.

Logic Pro for iPad can be imported and exported to Logic Pro for Mac as well as into Final Cut Pro for iPad.

Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad will be available on the App Store on May 23 for $7.99 per month or $59 per year with a one month free trial.

Final Cut Pro can be used with M1 iPad models or later while Logic Pro works on A12 Bionic chip iPad models or later. Each of the new apps also require iPad OS 16.4.
