Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones and air purifier now available in Australia
Dyson’s Zone noise-cancelling headphones and air purifier – first unveiled in March last year – has now gone on sale in Australia starting at $999.
Dyson, a company best known for its powerful cordless vacuums and hair care products, has taken its first step into the competitive audio space.
But when you think about it – producing good audio is all about pushing air around inside a speaker – and Dyson knows a thing or two about air movement with its motors and highly-engineered products.
The Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones offers up to 50 hours of listening and high quality audio thanks to its low distortion drivers and advanced active noise cancellation.
Dyson engineers have taken a scientific approach with sound reproduction measurements, harmonic distortion and frequency response rather than extensive user testing like the existing audio companies.
Onboard the Dyson headphones are 11 microphones – eight of these are used to reduce ambient sound by up to 38dB by monitoring your surrounds 384,000 times per second.
The electroacoustic system is made up of 40mm and 16 ohm neodymium speakers which have a wide frequency range to allow accurate sound reproduction between 6hz and 21Hz, so you don’t miss a single note.
Intelligent signal processing equalises the output 48,000 times per second and neutralises distortion, so they are inaudible over the entire frequency range.
On the design side, the Dyson Zone headphones have comfort pads on the headband and earcups which can adapt to the shape of the users head and ears.
But not only can the Dyson Zone headphones reduce noise pollution it can also tackle air pollution as well.
Users can equip the headphones with a visor to stream purified air into your nose and mouth when moving through polluted areas.
Dyson has leaned into its deep understanding of airflow, filtration and indoor and outdoor air quality and have developed a system for the headphones.
There are compressors in each earcup that draw air through double-layered filters before projecting two purified air streams to the user’s nose and mouth.
The MyDyson app can be used to monitor and control the headphones with the ability to adjust audio settings as well as keeping an eye on air quality levels.
The Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones are available now from Dyson Demo Stores or via dyson.com.au.
