DJI has released the Mavic 3 Classic, a more affordable version of the popular drone which still boasts an onboard Hasselblad camera and impressive flight performance.
Now creators who purchased the Mavic 3 Classic can enjoy the same 4/3 CMOS 20-megapixel camera and 46-minute maximum flight time as the original Mavic 3 drone which included an additional telephoto lens.
The DJI Mavic 3 Classic also works with existing remotes like the DJI RC Pro, DJI RC and DJI RC-N1 which makes it even easier and affordable for drone pilots to move up to what’s considered one of the best flying cameras on the market.
“The Mavic 3 series has always set the standard for what a drone can do, from the original Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine that transformed aerial photography and cinematography, through the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal platforms for professional work,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI.
“Now, DJI is moving forward to give more creators access to the photographic excellence and operational reliability that are the hallmarks of the Mavic 3 Series. With the launch of Mavic 3 Classic, we hope to see even more creators putting our top-of-the-line tools to work and pushing their creativity past their old limits.”
Onboard the Mavic 3 Classic is the 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera which can capture up to 5.1K at 50fps, 4K at 60fps and 1080p 60fps using H.264 and H.265 encoders.
And for slo-mo, Mavic 3 Classic captures video at 4K at 120fps and 1080p at 200fps.
When shooting with the 20-megapixel sensor images are processed in 12-bit RAW and 10-bit D-log when shooting video.
This ensures the camera can accurately capture true and vivid colours and detail rich shadows.
Also on board is the Hasselblad natural colour solution which can produce photos and videos with accurate colours and its HLG system for high dynamic range photography can generate footage that doesn’t require colour adjustment in post-production.
On the flying side, the DJI Mavic 3 Classic can fly for up to 46 minutes on a single charge and uses the same batteries as the rest of the Mavic 3 Series.
Pilots can also take advantage of the drones intelligent algorithms that can track subjects, frame images and fly in cinematic flight patterns.
ActiveTrack 5.0 employs multiple vision sensors to spot subjects and lock them in the frame while moving the drone and camera smoothly to create pro level videos.
And with Master Shots, shooting and editing functions are automated to make the whole process even simpler for new pilots.
QuickShots also put several shooting modes at your fingertips so you can capture some truly spectacular sequences.
A new feature is Cruise Control which means pilots can set a constant flight speed for their drone so they can focus on the photography side and minimise any camera shakes usually associated with manual speed control.
And once Mavic 3 Classic has landed, you can turn RAW imagery into shareable content easier than ever with high-speed quick transfer which lets you download content directly from the drone to your mobile device over Wi-Fi 6 at speeds of up to 80MB per second without the need to connect to the remote control.
