DJI unveils the Spark mini drone that can take off and land in your hand
DJI has launched its smallest drone ever – the Spark – which packs the company’s signature technologies into a tiny package that you can take anywhere with you to fly inside and out.
The DJI Spark is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and has intelligent flight control, a two-axis mechanical gimbal and a 12-megapixel camera.
A new feature is FaceAware, where the DJI Spark can lift off from your hand and hover in place to take a selfie or a group shot.
The drone can also be controlled with gestures so you can take amazing photographs without the remote.
You can raise your arms or wave your hands to position Spark to shoot your photos.
Also on board is Palm Control so the drone can follow your hand movements and take off and land on your palm.
QuickShot lets you shoot videos with a cinematic look with a single tap.
These include ascending shots, flying backwards and upwards with the camera logged on your subject, circling around a person or object and flying upwards and around your subject.
The DJI Spark can reach speeds of up to 50km/h and has a battery on board that offers 16 minutes of flight time.
It also features DJI’s safety technology including Return to Home and Flight Autonomy so it is locked in to GPS so it can hover accurately.
The DJI Spark will be available in five colours – Alpine White, Sky Blue, Meadow Green, Lava Red and Sunrise Yellow – and will be priced at $859. It will be available from June 15.
