Motorola’s redesigned razr 50 ultra folding phone now has the largest external display

Motorola has announced the new Motorola razr 50 ultra – it’s all-new folding phone with the largest external display you’ll find on any phone of its kind.

Due for release on July 17, the Motorola razr 50 ultra has a large 4-inch external display so you can easily access apps and features including accessing photos and navigating your music.

On the inside is a huge 6.9-inch pOLED display which now incorporates a redesigned hinge to make the device easier to open and close with one hand.

And for the first time, the Motorola razr 50 ultra incorporates AI through the Google Gemini app.

Customers will receive a three-month subscription to Gemini Advanced with access to Google’s most capable AI model.

The Gemini app can also be accessed from the front screen without opening the device.

The external display can be customised with clock faces, screen savers and AI with Style Sync which can create wallpaper options based on what you’re wearing or just by asking the phone to generate an image.

“As the pioneer of the flip phone, no one knows more about foldable devices than Motorola,” says Kurt Bonnici, Head of Motorola Greater Asia Pacific.

“Twenty years ago Motorola changed the way people viewed and used mobile phones – the razr was the first device to become a fashion accessory, and who can forget the satisfying snap of flipping it shut at the end of a call.

“Now, two decades later, we are once again challenging the status quo to redefine the smartphone experience for our consumers.

“The Motorola razr 50 ultra delivers the industry’s largest external display at 4.0-inches and features AI advancements throughout the entire device for a fully enhanced user experience. Offering endless ways to capture content, supported by the new moto ai powered camera system.

“And through our relationship with Google, we are introducing the Gemini app which will be accessible directly from the external display.

“We are excited to be industry leaders in providing advanced AI both across our moto ai and Google AI capabilities.”

The Motorola razr 50 ultra will be available in three bold colours including Spring Green, Midnight Blue and Peach Fuzz.

The folding smartphone also has a high level of durability thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the external display as well as underwater protection with the ability to stay at a depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes.

On the camera side, the Motorola razr 50 ultra includes a 50-megapixel main camera with Moto AI camera capabilities and Google Photos AI powered editing.

The 50-megapixel telephoto lens provides up to 2x optical zoom without reducing image quality.

The Motorola’s AI-powered camera features include:

Photo Enhancement Engine:  simultaneously applies settings from multiple shooting modes into one to deliver stunning photos every time. The engine finetunes the image for optimal detail, clarity, highlights, shadows, colour, and bokeh effects.

Adaptive Stabilisation: determines the speed of movement while filming and dynamically adjusts the stabilisation level for the best results, ideally to capture videos while running or riding a bike.

Action Shot: automatically increases and adjusts shutter speed and illumination based on different lighting conditions, perfect for sporting and jump in the air moments.

Long Exposure: for capturing artistic light trails or smooth waterfalls with a single tap

– Super zoom: takes photos even further by enhancing the results through an AI-based machine learning algorithm, to capture details even when far away.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

It is powered by a 4000mAh battery with 15W wireless and 5W reverse charging capabilities.

The Motorola razr 50 ultra will be priced at $1,699 from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Mobileciti, Amazon and motorola.com.au.

Preorders kick off on July 2 with an on-sale date of July 17.

Customer who pre-order the Motorola razr 50 ultra before July 16 can redeem a bonus pair of Moto buds+ featuring Sound by Bose.
