The Apple Vision Pro has gone on sale in the US to much fanfare after reportedly selling more than 200,000 units during the pre-order period.
Apple was in its typical launch mode with its US stores packed with customers who wanted to try the device for themselves.
Priced from $US3,499 (that’s $A5,380), the Apple Vision Pro is not cheap, but the early reaction has been mostly positive.
US-based tech writers and influencers were full of praise for the mixed reality headset.

While there has been no date set for the Australian launch date, we’re expecting the Apple Vision Pro to officially go on sale here around June or July.
According to a source for MacRumors, there were more than 200,000 pre-orders.
The Vision Pro headsets allocated for launch day delivery were sold out within hours of the pre-sale period which kicked off on January 19.
Online retailer Kogan has secured limited stock is offering Australian customers willing to fork out $6,399 (256GB), $6,699 (512GB) or $6,999 (1TB) with delivery expected in early March.
Social media during the first weekend of the Apple Vision Pro’s release has been flooded with sightings of Apple Vision Pro users wearing and using the device in public.

One was on a train, in the gym, on the street and in a shopping centre and a couple of others behind the wheel their Teslas while on AutoPilot.
There have been many VR headsets released in the past including the PlayStation VR, the HTC Vive and the Meta Quest 3.
But Apple’s brand power has the potential to make the virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality headset become a more mainstream product.
Apple is marketing the headset as a spatial computer which allows users to enjoy content, apps, movies, TV shows, images and videos in your own virtual space.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, when interviewed on the US news channels who were covering the launch, was saying this product represents a tentpole moment in technology in the same way we saw with other Apple products like the Mac, the iPod, iPhone, the iPad and the Apple Watch.
MacRumors says Apple will be producing 500,000 units in 2024 with the expectation of gradual sales due to its high price and due to the fact the product is very difficult to produce.
