Dyson has re-invented the mop with its new WashG1 wet floor cleaner

Dyson has re-invented the mop with its first dedicated wet floor cleaner – the Dyson WashG1 – which brings its trademark engineering and development to make it even easier and hygienic to clean up messy spills.

The Dyson WashG1 features the company’s latest floorcare technology to pick up wet and dry debris in a single sweep on hard floors.

On board is a one litre clean water tank to cover up to 290 square metres so the Dyson WashG1 can use hydration, absorption and extraction technologies to remove and separate debris at the same time to ensure easier maintenance and hygiene.

“Most of us vacuum our homes regularly. But whilst wet cleaning is considered a necessary chore globally, many of us don’t know why we do it beyond the vague notion of hygiene, says Charlie Park Vice President of New Product Development, Dyson Home.

“In fact, cleaning with water is essential to rehydrate and remove tough, dried-on stains.

“Over the years, a vast array of wet floor cleaning formats have emerged to help us tackle this chore yet users’ expectations are often left unfulfilled when it comes to stain removal, pick-up performance and floor finish.

“Dyson engineers solve the problems others ignore and we thrive on the challenge of creating better technology.

“The Dyson WashG1 is the result of this; our first dedicated wet machine to wash hard floors, properly and hygienically.”

The Dyson WashG1 uses two highly absorbent microfiber filament rollers which counter rotate while pulse modulated pump sprays water evenly across 26 hydration points along the full width of each roller.

The combination of the high density microfibre and the steady flow of clean water ensures liquid spills are absorbed while dry dirt, debris and hair are caught in the filaments.

Dyson engineers deliberately position the two rollers at opposite ends of the machine to create a longer dwell time on stains with each pass of the unit for faster stain removal.

Under the hood is Dyson’s unique technology which can separate debris and dirty water to provide a hygienic no touch disposal.

The dirty water is extracted from the rollers while a secondary nylon-bristled inner brush bars remove the dirt and debris from the rollers and flick it into a removable debris tray.

This tray is built with a 500 micron mesh to separate the dirty water from the larger debris before the dirty water is collected in a 0.8 litre capacity tank.

Both water tanks have been designed with larger openings to make it easy to maintain and clean.

Users can select the level of hydration required based on the type of debris and the type of flooring.

The Dyson WashG1 allows for easy manoeuvrability and edge to edge cleaning thanks to the two motors that sit within each roller and spin in opposite directions.

This product inherits technology from the Dyson Omni Glide with casters that provide better balance and weight support while the low cleaner head height makes it easy to reach underneath furniture.

The new Dyson WashG1 wet floor cleaner is available for pre order now and it will be priced at $999.

Customers who purchase through Dyson Direct will receive an additional set of rollers with every unit purchased.
